Slemish Barn

About

Slemish Barn is a boutique hostel offering comfortable self catering, budget accommodation for up to 18 people in four en suite rooms and 24 in two dormitories.

It is situated in the Braid Valley between the award winning floral village of Broughshane and the picturesque fishing village of Carnlough, in the shadow of Slemish mountain where St. Patrick is reputed to have lived. This area is known as the Gateway to the Glens and is only a short distance from Glenariff. It is also very handily mid way between Belfast and the Giants Causeway.

The area offers excellent facilities for walking, cycling, fishing and outward bounds activities.

Self-catering facilities available as well as catering options for groups.

Slemish Barn can offer facilities for functions, small conferences and parties with a large function room upstairs (no disabled access) and the large dining area downstairs.

We have strong connections to traditional music in the area, specifically the Counties Antrim and Derry Country Fiddlers Association, which is one of the largest traditional fiddling schools in the island of Ireland and celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2013. Slemish Barn aims to establish itself as a cultural centre for arts activities in the area.

We also have a strong sustainable theme with significant green energy systems. The building has been built and furnished with reclaimed and second hand materials where possible.
