Nestled on the edge of the captivating Glens of Antrim, The Origami House, by award-winning architect Jane Burnside, stands as a testament to contemporary architecture. This striking white masonry and glass dwelling, surrounded by lush landscaped gardens, offers a glimpse into architectural design at its finest.  With its feature as a finalist on the prestigious TV series BBC House of the Year and exposure to a global audience on USA's Extreme Homes, The Origami House has captivated architecture enthusiasts worldwide. Adding to its accolades, it has recently been named one of the fifty Iconic houses in the UK since 1900 and prominently showcased in 'The Iconic British House, Modern Architectural Masterworks since 1900' by Dominic Bradbury, published by Thames and Hudson.  Bradbury's insightful words echo the sentiment: "Burnside’s home is one of the most eloquent and accomplished expressions of the architect’s response to the ‘problem of the Northern Irish bungalow’. Burnside's approach, drawing from her studies in Manchester, Bath, and the British School at Rome, as well as her collaborations in America with architects like Michael Graves, resulted in a fresh interpretation of the traditional bungalow.

The Origami House, with its series of repeated modules, stands as a reinvention of the established model.”  Acknowledging its architectural significance, the Historic Environment Division featured The Origami House as one of its inaugural contemporary houses in European Heritage Doors Open Days.

For the past fifteen years, architect and owner Jane Burnside has graciously welcomed visitors to immerse themselves in the magic of The Origami House.  Join Burnside, also the author of 'Contemporary Design Secrets: The Art of Building a House in the Countryside,' on a personally guided tour of her home and studio. Delve into the secrets behind designing this iconic structure, learning from the visionary architect herself.
