About

Discover Whiteharbour, a historic limestone Harbour/Marina nestled on the outskirts of Whitehead along the world famous Causeway Coastal Route. Step into a world where functionality harmonises with rich heritage, which can be traced back to the 1850's.

In 2014, Whiteharbour underwent a transformative renovation, with the entire harbour dredged and new pontoons installed. Each berth now boasts water, lighting, and electricity, ensuring a seamless experience for every visitor.

Marvel at the meticulously restored grade II listed seawall, lovingly repointed and repaired to its former glory. Navigate the inner mouth with ease, thanks to the addition of a depth gauge and swing net, designed to enhance safety and minimise seaweed ingress. And for those seeking adventure, a landing point with a convenient ladder awaits just beyond the swing net.

Rest assured, security remains a priority. Whiteharbour is equipped with a comprehensive CCTV security system, ensuring peace of mind during every visit. Ample car parking is available within the spacious carpark, conveniently located on the inside of the railway track. Access to the harbour is made enchanting by passing through an old limestone archway, adding a touch of nostalgia to the journey.

Indulge in comfort at the facilities, including clean toilets, a refreshing shower, and complimentary tea and coffee served in the charmingly converted stable block. Stay connected with free wifi, allowing visitors to share unforgettable moments with loved ones near and far.

As visitors explore Whiteharbour, they are invited to admire the preserved wooden boat building shed, a testament to the dedication to preserving maritime history. Here, original tools stand as silent witnesses to centuries of craftsmanship and seafaring legacy.

Discover the magic of Whiteharbour, where every visit promises to be a memorable experience steeped in history, beauty, and unparalleled hospitality.

Would you like to use the harbour for something a bit different?  We are very open to new ideas!

Group visits, functions, wedding receptions, private parties, groups & clubs, and photoshoots are all welcomed by arrangement.  We can tailor-make event packages to suit your needs, whether it be a quaint birthday party or your big day - we can work with you to make it a great one.  Please get in touch to see what we can do for you!

Travelling by Sea?

The sea entrance to the harbour is at the SW end of the harbour, between the rounded harbour end and basalt rock armour.

Two red reflective triangles are positioned to guide vessels into the port side of the outer mouth, where they then take a 90° turn starboard to face the inner mouth (4m wide) and proceed towards mooring points.

An underwater sill at the inner mouth decides an approx 1.3 metre mooring depth at the pontoon. Take extra care when entering on a low tide, taking note of the depth gauge on the wall of the inner mouth for assistance.

The outer mouth is periodically dredged, however silt may still form an underwater sill here alongside the rounded harbour wall - always remain fully aware of your vessel and your surroundings.
