The Marine Bar Whitehead

About

Nestled near the scenic Whitehead promenade and just a short stroll from the train station, The Marine Bar is a cosy, welcoming pub brimming with charm and character. With its traditional interior featuring nautical maps, shipping motifs, and an iconic vintage map of Ireland above a roaring fireplace, it offers a uniquely inviting atmosphere.

A cornerstone of Whitehead since 1857, The Marine Bar was originally part of the historic Marine Hotel Buildings. Today, it remains an intimate venue that accommodates up to 100 guests, attracting a lively mix of locals and visitors of all ages.

Open 7 days a week, The Marine Bar is your go-to spot for live music and entertainment, hosting events from Thursday to Sunday:

Thursdays: Experience the best of traditional Irish music with local band SHINDIG (9 PM – Midnight).

Fridays: Monthly quiz nights and live music.

Saturdays: Enjoy performances by top local bands and DJs every week.

Sundays: Unwind with live music sessions and special events.

We showcase a variety of up-and-coming local talent, host Open Mic nights, and organise regular charity quiz nights. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for the latest event updates and band line-ups.

Facilities include a ground-floor bar with a small stage and dance floor, a pool table and darts area, and a roaring fireplace to keep you cosy in the winter. An enclosed rear yard serves as a comfortable smoking area.

Whether you're here for the music, the atmosphere, or a pint with friends, The Marine Bar promises an unforgettable experience. Drop by any day of the week and see why it’s a beloved staple of Whitehead!
