Halfway House Country Pub

About

This 19th century traditional pub and restaurant is located halfway between Ballymena and Carnlough in the picturesque townland of the Braid, the scenic heart of County Antrim.

The Halfway first opened its doors in 1838 with the Hamill family holding the key since 1995. It has stood the test of time to interweave near and far, past and present to create a warm friendly welcome to everyone .Nestled at the foot of Slemish Mountain, it is a delight for locals and tourists to discover. Sure St. Patrick himself would be proud to see this traditional family run pub and restaurant flourish under his namesake, Pat Hamill.

This is a pub with a superb food offer, matched by a cracking drinks range. Owner Pat Hamill set out to create the kind of pub he’d like to go to, and has come up with the kind of place anyone would wish as their local.

Passion for excellence, coupled with constant investment and innovation has set The Halfway apart from the pack. Collaboration with Chef Sean Moran who has created an array of locally sourced dishes has produced an imaginative, modern yet informal menu, showcasing the best of local, seasonal produce full of excellent flavours all at affordable prices.

Sean says “he wants every customer to enjoy fresh and seasonal produce cooked with love. I care not only about who eats our food but also where it came from and that it’s sustainable”

The pub’s menu is simple yet adventurous and dictated by the season. Whether you go for Braised Glenarm Shorthorn Beef, Creamy Chive Mash, Buttered Cabbage, Honey Parsnip with Beef Gravy or Seared Rathlin Scallops, Smoked Bacon Mash, Asparagus, Spiced Cauliflower with Lemon and Chive Cream your palate will thank you, our menu has something to tantalise all taste buds

Drawing on the area’s heritage, this pub has it all – great food, quality drinks and the friendliest staff for miles around! Its welcoming atmosphere, plethora of events and safe space means it ticks all the right boxes.
