Our Ancient Heritage Exhibition at The Braid

Journey back in time at The Braid in Ballymena with "Our Ancient Heritage." This fascinating exhibition explores the significance of pre-medieval sites in the Ballymena area, interwoven with local folklore. Musician and storyteller Willie Drennan offers colourful alternatives beyond history books, complemented by stunning imagery from photographer David McClean.

Re-imagining the Islandmagee Witches at Carrickfergus Museum

Uncover a chilling chapter of history at Carrickfergus Museum with "Re-imagining the Islandmagee Witches." This poignant display delves into the story of Ireland's last witch trial, which took place in Carrickfergus in 1711. A collaborative project with Ulster University, this exhibition provides a deeper understanding of these events through historical research and creative interpretations. Open from April 4th to May 2nd, with Saturday openings on April 5th and 26th. A new project hub will also be unveiled as a legacy to the project.

"Pattern and textures within nature have always been of inspiration to me. Detaching oneself from the expected to explore and enhance what nature provides is exciting, challenging and allows for imaginative play with varied mediums." (Nicola Coogan)

The exhibition will be on display from Friday 4th April until Friday 2nd May 2025, and includes Saturday opening on 5th April and 26th April.

Nicola will be providing a drop-in art demonstration as part of Carnegie Day on Saturday 5th April from 1.00pm – 3.00pm.

This is an opportunity to get close to a bird of prey during an educational talk and presentation by Ian Patterson from Flying Falcons.

This free event is suitable for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please note this is not a drop-in session. The presentation is one hour long beginning at 12.00pm. Booking not required.

This event is taking place as part of Earth Day which takes place on 22nd April each year.
