His charcoal drawings bring a raw, tactile quality to the landscapes, emphasizing the dramatic contrasts and intricate details. Painted in studio and en plein air, examples of both highly detailed studio studies and dramatic loose outdoor sketches can be found through the exhibition. In contrast, the oil sketches offer a softer, more fluid interpretation, capturing the ethereal beauty of natural scenes in a timeless monochrome palette.
