A whole host of great walks on offer through the picturesque surroundings of Carnfunnock Country Park.

Route:
The paths overlap each other in places and it is possible to follow any one, or all in sequence or a mixture. They will take you through all parts of the park.

There are 5 way-marked trails with interpretation panels throughout:

•  Garden: 0.8 miles - visit the maze and walled garden.

•  Heritage: 1.6 miles - see the Ice House, Norman motte and lime kilns.

•  Shore: 1.5 miles - go past the activity centre to the sandy beach at Drains Bay.

•  Woodland: 2.5 miles - this is the longest and most energetic walk and takes you to most of the park's features, the woodland and wetland.

•  Biodiversity: 1.5 miles - this is a circular route suitable for wheelchairs giving great views of the coast and taking you right beside the giant bird table. Also incorporates a dedicated fitness trail with various stations of outdoor gym equipment. This walk is also suitable for people with limited mobility.

Larne parkrun also takes place in Carnfunnock and is a free weekly 5km event for runners of all standards. It happens every Saturday at 9.30am, starting and ending in Drains Bay car park. For full details check out the parkrun website http://www.parkrun.org.uk/larne/.

Flat, hilly, slopes and steps.

Point of interest:
Walled Garden with unusual sundials and wooden sculptures. Maze in the shape of NI. Children's maritime themed outdoor adventure playground.

Facilities:
The Cafe and Visitor Centre, with tourist information and novelty goods for sale, are open daily from mid March-October. The Cafe is open at weekends throughout the year. Parking charges apply. Free parking is also available in Carnfunnock Bay and Drains Bay. Toilets are open all year (excluding Christmas Day).

Dog Policy:
Park operates dog zones. Dogs are not permitted in the activity centre. Dogs must be under control at all times. Use bins provided for waste.

Road Directions

On Antrim Coast Road (A2), 3.5 miles north of Larne. Walk from the main car park following sign posts directly to the Carnfunnock Visitor Centre. Larne parkrun starts and ends at Drains Bay car park.
