Matties Meeting House

About

Uncover the charm of Matties Public House & Restaurant, tucked away in Cairncastle village between Larne and Glenarm. Just a hop away from the seaside village of Ballygally on the Causeway Coastal Route, it's a hidden gem for those in search of delicious food, friendly company and a touch of history.

With roots dating back to at least the 1800s, Matties is one of the oldest pubs in Co. Antrim. Back in the day, Martha Moore, also known as Mattie, was the boss, making this place a beloved drinking destination. The name 'Matties Meeting House' became official in 2007.

As you step inside, soak in the atmosphere of spots like the original 'Lounge' or the 'Wee Room,' boasting a cosy fire and a large TV – perfect for catching rugby matches. Head to the Lounge for tasty bar meals and live entertainment. Matties maintains its classic charm with unique 'Boxes' for bars.

Enjoy traditional pub fare or try their special dishes like Boxer Jim's Steak & Guinness Pie or the tempting Matties Chicken with Bushmills Whiskey, cream, and spring onion sauce. Vegetarian or gluten-free? They've got you covered.

Friday nights are all about Steak Night – savour prime local sirloin steak, chips, onion rings, and veggies at a fantastic deal.

Saturdays come alive with live music – from mellow acoustic tunes to energetic five-piece bands. Thursdays feature acoustic folk singing sessions, while traditional Irish musicians take the stage twice a month on Saturdays.

Planning a celebration? Matties offers an upstairs function room for up to thirty people – perfect for birthdays or anniversaries. When the sun's shining, relax in the beer garden; when it's chilly, warm up by the fire with a hot toddy.

With its rich history, delicious offerings, and vibrant atmosphere, Mattie's has something for everyone, so come for a visit and enjoy the craic, you won't regret it.
